[Class 144 (i)] The hub a of a detachable wheel is provided with alternating flat and circumferential surfaces to engage corresponding surfaces on the permanent hub or the brake-drum, or on an intermediate member fitted between the two hubs. In the form shown in Fig. 13, the wheel-hub a is formed with an inner cone f to seat on a coned portion g<SP>1</SP>, the outer end of the hub a being formed by a sleeve a<SP>2</SP> shaped to enter a coned recess in the attachment nut h. A pair of such wheels may be mounted, in twin form, with a double-coned spacing-sleeve. Fig. 18 shows a further modification in which the hub a is flanged to abut the shoulder on the permanent hub b, the seat g<SP>1</SP> for the coned portion f being provided by a ring l formed with driving- flats d<SP>2</SP>. In this modification, the brake-drum p is mounted on the wheel-disc r.
