Abstract
411,293. Discharge tubes. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, 13D, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. June 8, 1933, No. 16470. Convention date, June 30, 1932. [Class 39 (i).] To prevent darkening of the bulb, due to cathode disintegration, of a gas-filled luminous discharge tube having an anode and an incandescent cathode furnished with a substance of good electron-emitting properties, the part of the anode exposed to the discharge is formed with projections, cavities, corrugations or other undulations. In the construction shown, a luminous tube comprises anodes 5 disposed on opposite sides of an oxide-coated cathode 4 and mounted within a glass bulb 1 which contains neon and mercury or sodium vapour. The anodes 5 are as shown in Fig. 2, in the form of corrugated annular plates.
