Abstract
401,240. Discharge tubes. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. July 12, 1933, No. 19741. Convention date, July 27, 1932. Addition to 392,796. [Class 39 (i).] A vapour-filled discharge tube 27, Fig. 1, which is enclosed by an envelope 9 having a double wall, the space between the walls of which is partially or wholly exhausted as described in the parent Specification, is modified by closing the space between the tube and the envelope by a ring 30 which consists of a spring core covered with heat-resisting material, such as asbestos, and, preferably, engaging with an annular contraction in the tube. Access of the vapour to the lower part of the tube is prevented by a screen 29. In a modification, the cap 33, Fig. 3, engages with the inner wall of the envelope 9 which contains a neon filling and electrodes 35, 36.
