Abstract
383,945. Discharge apparatus. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, 13D, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. Sept. 1, 1932, No. 24420. Convention date, Nov. 24, 1931. [Class 39 (i).] Condensation of metallic vapour around the comparatively cold stem 2 of a discharge tube, such as a lamp, and a consequent reduction of vapour pressure are prevented by a mica or a metallic screen 6 which bears on a contraction 5 of the tube wall. A ferrochrome disc may be sealed to the wall and covered with a glass film. The envelope may consist of boron-silicate glass containing little silicic acid and may be coated with or contained within an exhausted envelope formed of a different glass. Sealing of the leading-in wires is facilitated by forining the stem of lead glass. A filling of sodium and a rare gas may be used ; the leading-in wires are covered with magnesium oxide.
