Abstract

409,743. Internally fired boilers. GOTHARD, H. A. S., 11, St. Mary-at-Hill, London, and TAYLOR, F. M. H., Clevedon, College Road, Isleworth, Middlesex. Nov. 3, 1932, No. 31036. [Class 64 (i).] In a boiler comprising annular water chambers 1, 2 and a central fuel hopper 5, a helical baffle 13 is arranged between the water chambers to prolong the path of the combustion products to the chimney 12. The thickness of the fuel bed is determined by the height or position of a conical grate 7 which may be raised or lowered. In a modification, an outer water space only is provided, and the helical flue surrounds the hopper. Air may be admitted to the flue by means of a damper 19 under thermostatic control ; a control damper 20 is also fitted in the chimney.
