Divided out of 409,743. [Classes 64 (i) and 123 (ii).] In a hot-water boiler with a central fuel hopper b and an adjustable grate e, groups of smoke tubes j-m are disposed horizontally about the hopper and in the water space, and connected by headers, so as to provide a tortuous path for the combustion products. The hopper depends from the cover plate of the boiler and connects at its lower end with the walls of the combustion chamber, which is surrounded by a water space h continuous with the upper water space i. The boiler may be built up in sections.
