Abstract
407,587. Cathode ray tubes. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Marconi House, Strand, London.- (Assignees of Flaherty, M. ; 414, 9th Avenue, Haddon Heights, New Jersey, U.S.A.) July 3, 1933, No. 18865. Convention date, July 1, 1932. [Class 39 (i).] A tube is provided with shielding means and a yieldably mounted socket which supports the base and is adapted to urge the top end of the tube into engagement with a resilient lining of the shielding means. The tube 1 is adapted to be supported on a shelf 19 in a cabinet, which, as described in Specification 377,622 is provided with a lid adapted to carry a plain, concave or convex mirror which is used to reflect the image formed on the fluorescent screen 7. Prongs on the tube base are carried in a socket 13 which is supported by the shelf 19 through a base 15, bolts 17 and springs 21. The position of the socket can be adjusted by means of thumb nuts. Deflecting coils 9, 11 or electrostatic plates are supported on an annular plate 23 which is carried by the shelf 19 through a cylindrical shield 27. The coils are supplied with current impulses of a saw-tooth wave form as described in Specification 395,499. A frusto-conical shield 29 is welded or riveted to the shield 27 and is secured through bolted lugs 33 to a shield 31. A fibrous, non-resonant or laminated material 35 such as felt or flake asbestos is secured by means of an adhesive to the shield 31 and completely surrounds the tube. The shield 31 supports through rectangular, circular or square lugs 45, 47 a non- shatterable glass 43.
