Abstract

406,732. Manhole frames and covers. EVERY, J., Phoenix Works, Lewes. Aug. 29,1932, No. 24147. [Class 107.] A manhole cover a and its frame b are provided with registering recesses c, k, for the reception of wooden wedging blocks l, and are further provided with interengaging lugs d and recesses i for the purpose of locating the cover in the frame. In the form shown, the frame comprises a cylindrical portion f having upper and lower flanges j, e, strengthening webs g, and an inwardly extending flange h which forms a seating for the cover. At diametrically opposite points, the frame is provided with recesses m which register with undercut grooves n in the cover and are adapted to receive the end of a crowbar to loosen the cover from the frame. Lifting bars o in recesses p may also be provided for lifting purposes. The upper surfaces of the cover and frame are grooved or corrugated to provide a non-slip surface.
