[Class 107] Relates to manhole covers, drainage gratings, and like roadsurface fittings, of the kind in which the frame comprises two parts which interfit telescopically so that the frame and cover can be brought to lie flush with the road surface. According to the invention, the two parts 10, 11 of the frame are provided with cooperating teeth or inclines 24, 25, the vertical adjustment being effected by a partial rotation of the upper part 11 and by the insertion of packing-pieces between the faces of the cooperating teeth of the two parts. The teeth are formed on internal flanges 13, 14 of the two parts, and the cover 15 rests upon the upper face of the flange 14. The exterior faces of the part 11 and the cover may be slightly tapered to facilitate removal, and notches 26 may be formed in the teeth 25 to receive the end of a lever for rotating the part 11. To prevent dirt from accumulating between the cover and flange 14, the flange may be formed with a number of recesses. The outer face of the part 11 may be provided with recesses or projections to provide a key for the surrounding road material.
