Abstract
521,309. Gullies for kerbs. HARTLEY, A. J. Nov. 15, 1938, No. 33136. [Class 107] An open-sided kerb gully comprising a frame and a cover with the open side of the frame flush with the kerb-stone, has locking means for the cover adjacent the open side of the frame. Projections d are provided on the open end of the frame at each side and are adapted to be engaged by corresponding projections b on the lower face of the cover a, when the cover is in a position with its rear end slightly raised, so that as this end is lowered, the projections on the cover and frame interlock and lock the cover. An aperture n for a lifting key may be provided at the rear of the cover which may also be locked by a turnkey catch. A loose grating f may be held against the open side of the gully by projections g on the frame.
