Abstract

390,806. Hinges. HARTLEY, C. J., Cae Brest, The Avenue, Harpfields, Stokeon-Trent. Sept. 8, 1931, No. 25145. [Class 65 (ii).] A triangular manhole cover is hinged to its frame by means of cylindrical lugs B, Figs. 2 and 3, bearing on corresponding seatings D in the frame ; detachment is prevented by a bolt A passing through large holes in the lugs B and entering apertures K in the frame, being held by nuts L. In a modification, the apertures K are open-ended slots, to allow detachment of the cover with the rod A. In another form, Fig. 6, the cover has two lugs N which engage in curved slots Q in the frame ; the cover is detachable when closed, and the lugs prevent dirt from entering the slots.
