Abstract

340,674. Manhole frames and covers. KNIGHT, W. G., 3, Astley Yard, Market Place, Stockport, Cheshire. Oct. 26, 1929, No. 32562. [Class 107.] A non-rocking manhole cover B is provided with convex circumferential projections D<1> having inclined faces d, d<1> which engage with similar inclines c, c<1> on corresponding concave recesses C<1> in the wall of the frame A. During the seating operation, the cover rides by its own weight down the inclines c<1> until the inclines d dovetail with the inclines c. The outside of the frame has an inclined flange a<1> to key with the road material. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 199,912, [Class 107, Roads &c.].
