664,152. Road surface boxes. HERBERT, E. B. Jan. 12, 1950 [Jan. 13, 1949], No. 933/49. Class 107. A road surface box has a cover with lugs 12, 13, 14, the peripheral edges of which are inclined downwardly and inwardly, and the opposite (radial) edges of which are inclined downwardly and towards one another, the box having mating recesses such that the weight of the cover is carried solely by the lugs. A rim 22 may be provided to hold a sealing plate. The invention is applicable to shapes of manhole covers other than circular.
