Abstract

470,992. Kerb gullies. CHAFFEY, F. G. March 30, 1936, No. 9382. [Class 107] A kerb gully of the kind comprising a three-sided frame a having a cover d and a U-shaped extension piece c fitted beneath its front open side, is provided with a detachable grating disposed above the cross-bar of the extension piece so that the latter forms the base of the grating. The grating may comprise a number of bars b depending from a bar j which rests in recesses a<3> formed in projecting portions a<4> of the frame. The cover d is hinged to the frame and comprises a frame f and a removable cover plate g. The latter is secured to the frame f by screws and is supported therein by ledges and by diagonal struts g<1>. The frame and cover are provided with projections and recesses l, l<1>, which interengage when the cover is closed, the cover in this position being supported by frame supports a<5>. A gutter plate may be embedded in the road surface in front of the gully, the plate having a bevelled surface for directing water through the grating.
