Abstract
349,454. Road surface boxes. WOOD, E. A., Bridge Foundry, Rotherham, Yorkshire. Feb. 21, 1930, No. 5807. Addition to 326,473, [Class 107, Roads &c.]. [Class 107.] A modification of the gully grate and frame of the parent Specification consists in providing the pivot pin of the hinged grate with a projection which engages with the frame to support the grate in a vertical open position and on further opening constitutes a secondary fulcrum whereby the grate may be removed entirely from the frame. The pivot pin 2, Fig. 1, engages in a recess 3, Fig. 4, of the frame and is normally held in engagement therewith by a lug 4. The pivot pin has a projection 2a, a recess 2b in which is adapted to fit over the lug 4 to support the grate in the vertical open position during the cleaning operation. On further rotary opening movement, the projection 2a contacts with the upper surface of the lug 4 and forms a secondary fulcrum for the grate, whereby the latter may be entirely removed from the frame by the disengagement of the pin 2 from the recess 3.
