Abstract
510,968. Smokers' ash-trays. SLEIGH, H. L., CHESTON, A. S., and BOOTH, J. H. Feb. 14, 1938, No. 4578. [Class 130] [Also in Group XVII] A construction of ash-tray primarily adapted to be secured to the dashboard &c. of a vehicle or applicable to ash-trays for other purposes or other boxes or containers of the kind in which the tray proper is removably carried in a plate pivoted in a mounting comprises an open casing or escutcheon 6 secured as by bent-over lugs 9 in an opening in the dashboard &c. 7, a plate 10 pivoted to the casing at 12 and a box or container 14 mounted on a plate 10 in a readily removable manner by the sliding engagement of the back 16 of the container with the bent-over edges 13 of the plate and adapted to swing with the plate from a projecting position to an inoperative position in which the container is concealed by the plate. In the latter position an extension 18 of the escutcheon covers the open top of the container, which is locked by means of a pin 21 engaging a stop 20 and a spring tongue 22 formed on a downward extension of the part 18.
