Abstract

451,914. Gully grates. WOODROW, W. J., WOODROW, W. J., WOODROW, J. W., and WOODROW, A. C., (trading as WOODROW & CO., A. C.), 21, Farringdon Road, London. Feb. 3, 1936, No. 3191. [Class 107] A gully grating is pivoted at one end on an axis which passes through the opening between the end of the grating and the frame, the opening being provided with a number of grating elements, such as short bars, for preventing the entrance of foreign bodies. In the construction shown, the grating is formed in three sections 5, 6, 7, hingedly interconnected by pins 11. The section 5 is hinged to the frame 1 by two short coaxial pins 13 which engage in open ended slots 14 provided in the end two of a number of short bars 15 formed integrally with the frame and extending at right angles to the bars 12 of the grating. The frame is provided with a flange 2 on three of its sides, the remaining side 3, which is arranged against the kerb, being so constructed that its upper edge constitutes a support for the grating. The opposite edge of the grating is supported on a ledge 9 formed on the frame. In a modification the pins 13 extend outwards from end lugs formed on the section 5, one pin being mounted in an end bar 15 and the other in an enlargement of the frame.
