[Class 44.] The exposed surfaces of the revolving-barrel 12, the fixed outer casing 10 and the rose 17 are covered by plates of non-corrosive material such as stainless steel or synthetic resin. In one form, Fig. 1, a metal cover plate 18 is fixed to the casing 10 by tongues 26 which may form part of a flange 25 and are bent over to engage in recesses 27 or over projections on the outer edge 15 of the casing. A plate 19 provided with a keyhole slot may be attached to the barrel 12 in the same way or by forming it with recesses or projecting pins to co-operate with axially projecting pins or recesses in the barrel ; in the latter form, the edges of the aperture 31 in the plate 18 may be raised from the surface of casing 10 and overlap the plate 19. The cover 20 for the rose 17 is provided with tongues 29 to engage recesses 30 in the rose. In another form, Fig. 5, a plate 39 of metal or synthetic resin covers the casing 10 and rose 17 and is retained by a lip or projections 40 snapping into a recess or recesses 41 in the rose. The edge of the aperture 44 therein is bevelled to cooperate with the bevelled edge of a cover plate 43 attached to the barrel 12 by pins 45 entering holes 46. The barrel 12, casing 10 and rose 17 may be die-cast, sand-cast or machined from solid bars. Specification 399,348 is referred to.
