Abstract
605,547. Key-hole shutters. PARKES & SONS, Ltd., J., FRYER, E. C., and ORDIDGE, E. F. Dec. 31, 1945, No. 35187. [Class 44] A spring-pressed keyhole shutter for a lock is provided with one or more projections which extend from the side presented towards the key-hole and serve to guide the shutter by engagement with the top and bottom walls of a recess formed in the face of the lock. In the form shown in Figs. 2 and 4, the shutter 12 is L-shaped, the projection 14 passing across the bottom of the key-hole. The shutter has a curved notch 31 co-operating with a similar notch 30 on a fixed raised portion 17. The shutter is retained in the recess 15 by a hard steel plate 20, Fig. 2, which prevents drilling of the lock. The plate 20 is retained by a cap 24. In a modification, the shutter has a rearwardly extending rib or ribs engaging grooves in the bottom of the recess ; alternatively the ribs may be on the bottom of the recess, and the grooves on the shutter. In a further form the shutter is made in two parts, e.g. of L-form and urged together from either side of the key-hole. Each part has a curved notch for engagement by the key.
