[Class 120 (i).] In a rectilinear combing-machine of the Heilmann type, a device is provided for considerably increasing the distance between the drawing off mechanism 5, 6, Figs. 1 and 2, and the other operative parts of the machine, the device consisting of movable supporting members 8,9 carrying the drawing- off mechanism and of guiding means, stops and locking means 14, 15 serving to fix and to lock the drawing-off mechanism in normal position while permitting it to be retracted in a single movement and over a relatively considerable distance from the other operative parts of the machine so as to give easy access thereto. The drawing-off rollers 5, 6 are mounted on a support 8 carried by arms 9 mounted on pivots 10 which are disposed on a line 19 at right-angles to the direction 18 of the sliver for the mid-position of the rollers 5, 6. At each side of the machine a threaded rod 13 passing through a tube 14 is secured to an eye 12 on the support 8, the tube 15 being slidable in a split clamp 15 having a tightening screw 17. Each rod 13 is provided with regulating nuts 20 and washers 21. To vary the setting " e," Fig. 1, the nuts 20 are adjusted to produce a movement of the assembly 5, 6, 8, 9 about the point 10. To move the support 8 and drawing-off rollers 5, 6 to the position shown in Fig. 2, the screws 17 are loosened and the tubes 14 permitted to slide in the clamps 15 until checked by the washers 21. The lever 25, 26 pivoted at 22 and coupled by levers 23, 24 to the support 8 is provided to assist in this movement.
