Class 120(2) Textile drafting apparatus of the single-apron type having an upper roller resting upon the apron where it is supported by the rear apron-driving roller, the latter being adjustable towards or away from the forward apron-guiding member. comprises means for supporting the upper roller so as to be capable of infinitely variable adjustment in position in either or both of two distinct senses, i.e. towards or away from the forward apron guiding member and circumferentially about the rear apron-driving roller each of such movements being positively defined, such that whatever the position of the rear apron-driving roller the upper roller may be located in co-operative relationship therewith at any desired point about its circumference. As shown, the roller beam 10 carries a stand 11 having bearings for a bottom feed roller 12, a rear aprondriving roller 13, an apron-supporting roller 14 and a bottom drafting roller 15. An apron-guiding member 16 is carried by the bearing for roller 14 and an apron 17 passes around the roller 13, over roller 14 and around the member 16 and a tensioning roller 18. The bearings of the rollers 12, 13 and 14 are adjustable in a fore and aft direction. The upper drafting elements. i.e. upper feed roller 19, loaded upper roller 20, slip roller 21 and upper front roller 22 are mounted in bearings carried by a common supporting arm 23 which is pivotable about a fixed bar 24 at the rear of the roller stand and can be locked in the operative position by the engagement of a pivoted latch 25 with a fixed catch 26. The arm may also be held in a raised position by means of a spring- pressed stud 27 co-operating with a profiled member 29. The mounting 191 of feed roller 19, the mounting bracket 201 of roller 20, the mounting 211 of slip roller 21 and the mounting 221 of the front roller 22 are all slidably 'adjustable longitudinally on the arm 23 and can be fixed in. adjusted position by setscrews 31. Rollers 19, 20 and 22 are loaded by springs 32 when in the operative position the degree of compression of said springs being capable of adjustment by screws 33. The mounting of the roller 20 comprises two complementary parts, viz. the slidable bracket 201 and the bearing member 202 which is supported on the underside of bracket 201 against an arcuate flange 203 thereof, thus the roller is capable of adjustment in a fore and aft direction along the arm 23 and along an arcuate path about the axis of the roller 13. In one modification described in the Provisional Specification the roller 20 is capable of independent rectilinear adjustment along a guide inclined to the path of the fibres whilst the roller is adjustable in its bearings and in another it is adjustable along the path of the fibres whilst the roller is adjustable in its bearings in a direction substantially normal to this path; thus enabling the roller to follow a circumferential path about the apron-driving roller, Specification 670,472 is referred to.
