Abstract
405,529. Sharpening cutter-bars of mowing-machines. HIRTH, A., Burnhauptle-Haut, Haut-Rhin, France. June 19, 1933, No. 17415. Convention date, June 20, 1932. [Class 60.] Apparatus for sharpening the cutter bars of mowing-machines comprises a shaft 5, in a frame 1, having slidably mounted thereon two grinding-discs 3<1>, 3<2>, with bevelled peripheries, movable towards and from each other along the shaft by levers 8<1>, 82 pivoted at 91, 9<2> to the frame and pivoted at their other ends to links 11<1>, 11<2>. The links are pivoted to a hand lever 12 pivoted at 14 on the frame 1, and a projection 23 of the lever also engages a holder 6 for the cutter bar, the holder being pivoted at 15 to the frame. On the holder 6 is a shaft 16 on which are mounted freely two arms 171, 17<2> having at their ends clamps 201, 202 for the cutter bar 19 ; the arms carry, at their outer ends, adjustable counter-weights 221, 22<2>. In operation, the lever 12 is actuated, thereby moving the cutter bar across the surfaces of the grinding-discs, which at the same time move along the shaft 16, thereby maintaining a constant grinding angle.
