Abstract
671,514. Work guides. PIATTI, B. April 6, 1950 [April 8, 1949], No. 8778/50. Class 145 (ii). A work guide for an edging or other saw has a caul 14 engaging the work, the caul being secured by a clamping device 25 for transverse adjustment to angle member 12 which carries fixed member 11 and two parallel bars 18, 19 on which slides the clamping device 20 the first mentioned bar being a guide and the latter a clamping bar. Shear levers 6, 7 are pivoted to an axially displaceable and a fixed joint member respectively each of which is hingedly connected to a guide rod (not shown) disposed below tube 28, and carried on the machine table by members 1, 2. A pointer 32 slides over a scale 31 to indicate the distance from the saw to the caul and is driven by cord 34 tensioned by spring 33. The pointer may be zeroed by adjustment 35. When the guide is not in use it may be hinged about the guide rod to leave the surface of the work table clear.
