Abstract
935,521. Microtomes. D. G. EVANS. March 16, 1962 [May 8, 1961], No. 16566/61. Class 97 (1). [Also in Group XXIV] In a microtome or the like wherein a workpiece on a carriage C is brought up to a fixed knife 1, the edge of the knife is guarded by a fixed bar 3 of transparent plastics, which is adjustably supported by end-pieces 4 so as to lie just above and in front of the knife edge, the end-pieces 4 having slots 5 engaged by clamping screws threaded into the knife 1. In a modification the slot at one end is replaced by a row of tapped holes. The bar 3 may be telescopic or may be slidable at one end in the piece 4. According to the Provisional Specification the guard bar is carried by discs shaped to fit over the ends of the knife.
