Abstract

926,058. Machinery guards. DANCER & HEARNE BROS. Ltd. Dec. 12, 1961 [Dec. 12, 1960], No. 42665/60. Class 80 (4). A guard for a spindle moulding or like machine having a circular cutter revolving on a vertical axis comprises a top flap or cover 17 located above the cuttter, the flap or cover carrying a front plate 16 which is adjustable forwardly and rearwardly, and up and down in relation to the flap or cover 17, and side shields 12 mounted so as to be capable of adjustment at least forwardly and rearwardly. The front plate 16 is attached to the flap 17 by slotted bars 18 and pivoted angle-brackets 20 carrying bolts 21 adapted to be adjustably positioned in slots 22. The side shields 12 are curved and have bases 12a adjustably secured to a baseplate 13 by bolts 23 located in slots 24, 25, the plate 13 being adjustably secured to a table T by bolts 14. The flap 17 is hinged to an extraction ducting head 10. In a modification, the flap 17 carries adjustable side shields which are normally located above the flap but can be dropped down for use as alternative side shields.
