Abstract
902,870. Bulb planting machines. COBLEY, R. S. Sept. 30, 1960 [June 30, 1959], No. 22450/59. Class 6(1). A machine for planting bulbs, tubers and the like comprising a frame 2 supporting a revolving table 6 of domed form, a fixed wall 8 extending round the table and provided with a shoot 10 which delivers bulbs into a furrow cut by a blade 11. The hopper 12 is vertically adjustable by means of screws 13 and is provided with a flexible wall formed by rubber flaps 16. An upstanding guide member 15 on the rotary table extends through the throat of the hopper and is surrounded by a toothed plate 17 which assists in maintaining a flow of bulbs through the throat of the hopper. A guide plate extends partly across the rotary table adjacent to the upper end of the shoot to direct bulbs into the shoot. A furrow closing blade 19 is positioned forwardly of and offset from the furrow opening blade so that it closes a previously cut furrow.
