[Class 58.] A device for making comparison tablets for use in testing flour by its colour comprises an open mould 3, adapted to be charged with flour, arrayed between the legs 1<1> of an outer casing 1 and provided with a relatively movable bottom 2 which is fixed on the end of a stem 4 guided in a tubular portion 5 of the casing. The stem 4 carries an adjusting nut 6 by which the bottom 2 is fixed in a desired position in the casing. The mould 3 is arranged to slide on the stem 4 and is normally forced upwards against the end of the tubular portion 5 by a spring 7 encircling the stem 4 ; in this position the bottom 2 is flush with the outer edge of the mould. The mould may be forced downwards against the pressure of the spring until the lower end of a finger operated lever 12 engages over a projecting boss 13 on the upper side of the mould thus forming a cup to receive the flour.
