[Class 18.] A tube a, Fig. 3, to hold a stick of greasepaint &c. slides in a tube b fixed in an outer casing c, and the movement of the tube a is controlled by a knob d soldered to the tube and projecting through slots in the tube b and casing c. As the knob d is moved upwards to project the grease-paint for use, a rack e, Fig. 5, connected to the tube a by a lug passing through another slot in the tube b also moves upwards and rotates a pinion f which, in its turn, causes a rack g<1> to move downwards. A cover is spring-hinged to the upper end of rack g<1> so that, as the latter moves downwards, the cover is drawn into the casing. At this point rack e is disengaged from the pinion and subsequent movement of the tube a causes the grease-paint to project out of the case. A spring-pressed plate which normally obturates the slots in which the knob d slides is pressed back by the latter as it rises. The stick of grease-paint is held in a cup comprising two telescoping members k, k<1>, and the cup is engaged in the tube a.
