Abstract
233,814. Patey, F. W., Brownlow, L. E., and Bunn, J. Feb. 27, 1924. Stationary-mould machines.-Relates to machines for moulding butter &c. into portions of definite weight involving a discharging-plunger adjustable for capacity and comprises a plunger operated by rack and pinion mechanism. As shown, a mould b carried by a table a is fitted with a plunger having at its lower end a socket e engaging the screwed upper end of a stem f formed with rack teeth i engaging a pinion k operable by a hand lever m. The stem f slides in a pillar g slotted at p to receive a packing piece o for reducing the capacity of the mould from, say, pound to half-pound portions. Adjustment for different densities is made by the socket e which is furnished with a depending pointer x<1> co-operating with a scale on the pillar g. A setpin w<1> clamps the socket after adjustment. The butter is pressed into the mould by a block s, Fig. 2, carried by a bracket r operable by a cranked lever u fulcrumed on a yoke y and anchored by a spring x. A pawl may retain the plunger d in its highest position.
