Abstract

403,209. Electrically operated pumps. KENT, R. L., and MORRIS, J. N., East Works, Bordesley Green Road, Adderloy Park, Birmingham. Oct. 19, 1932, No. 29227. [Class 102 (i).] In an electrically-operated fuel pump, in which the electro-magnet comprises a winding a on a core b with a cylindrical pole piece c, the disc armature d is guided by means of circular or other struts 12, having spherical ends engaging recesses 10, 11 in the pole piece and armature respectively. A rod m, secured to the armature, operates a snap-over switch, comprising levers f, g pivoted at h and connected at their other ends by a spring i. The lever f carries a contact j co-operating with a contact k mounted on a spring blade l. The pump space is formed between a diaphragm u and a valve-box p, which is secured to a flange o on the pole piece c. The diaphragm is secured to the armature and is clamped between the flange o and the valve-box. The latter contains a filter y and the suction valve q and discharge valve r.
