738,671. Floats for actuating valves. DONALD, P. G., and ASSOCIATED BUILDERS MERCHANTS, Ltd. Feb. 11, 1954 [Feb. 12, 1953], No. 4010/53. Class 135. A float for actuating an inlet valve for a cistern is shaped as shown and is connected to the float-arm by a socket formed in a boss 6 which is located wholly within the float. The socket may be integral with the material of the float, or may be formed in a separate metal ferrule 5 which has a knurled surface to key it into the material of the boss. The latter is supported by four fins 7 which, when the float is made of synthetic resin material, are moulded with the float. The abutting flanges of the two parts of the float are secured together by the application of heat and pressure, or by means of a solvent or adhesive.
