Abstract
438,473. Gas meters. PARKINSON & COWAN (GAS METERS), Ltd., and WHITESMITH, I. N., Terminal House, Lower Belgrave Street, London. July 30, 1934, No. 22159. [Class 54] A dry gas meter comprises two similar sections a, b each consisting of a complete outer measuring chamber d, a diaphragm c, and an inner measuring chamber e which is completed by an interposed wall g when the sections are bolted together. The sections a, b may also be formed integrally with parts f of the valve box, which is rendered complete by a cover h. The sections may be moulded from synthetic resin, or made from a suitable alloy, or produced from sheet material. The transfer valves k, m are preferably oscillated about fixed pivots y by a crank-shaft v rotated by flag-rods operated by the diaphragms. The gas passages, i, j associated with the valves k, m may be cast or formed integrally with or separately from the sections a, b, the passages j communicating with a common outlet passage x at the back of the meter. The indicating mechanism is mounted in a recess in one section of the meter and is held in position by the other section. The valve box may alternatively be made separately and be secured in a recess around the edge of the sections a, b. The diaphragm discs p, q may be of synthetic resin or metal.
