Abstract
533,928. Valves. TAYLOR, J. L., and TAYLOR, A. E. Sept. 7, 1939, No. 25162. [Class 135] [Also in Group XXXVII] A flow sensitive alarm or cut-off means comprises a hinged valve in a flow-conduit operatively associated with an electric switch mounted on the outside of the casing. The valve member 14 is secured by a set-screw to a transverse shaft 18 passing to the outside of the casing through a leakage preventing device consisting of a conical collar pressed into contact with a seat on the casing by a spring acting through a ball. The movable switch contact 32 is carried by a member 26 pivoted to lugs 27 on a bracket 28 clamped to the valve casing by a removable inspection cover 29. The end of the member 26 remote from the switch contact has a ball end 25 engaging a bifurcated arm 24 secured to the spindle 18 by a setscrew and arranged so that when the switch is closed the ball fits snugly into the fork with the lever 26 and arm 24 substantially in alignment. Closing movement of the switch is limited by stops 37 on a bracket 28 which stops form the pole pieces of a magnet 39 co-operating with an armature 40 to give a snap-action.
