Abstract
1,154,117. Movable magnet switches. G. W. SEULEN, [trading as HONSBERG & CO.]. 20 May, 1968 [20 May, 1967], No. 23859/68. Heading H1N. A fluid flow monitoring switch has a sealed magnetic reed contact device in a fluid-tight tube which extends into a movable cylindrical body which is biased against axial movement by spring means and includes a toroidal permanent magnet. As shown the contact unit 8 is mounted in a fluidtight tube 7 which seats one end of a compression spring 15 biasing a body 9 so that its head 13 closes or narrows an aperture 12 in a housing 1. Fluid flow in the direction 14 lifts the body 9 so that the magnet 10 opens, closes or changes over the contacts in the reed contact unit 8. The head 13 may be shaped in dependance on the operating characteristic required. In an alternative arrangement (Fig. 2, not shown) the tube lies along the axis of the fluid flow pipe.
