Abstract
Hormone-containing liquids are obtained from parathyroid gland by adjusting the pH values of extracts of the gland, made by treatment with alkali solutions, to between 4,6 and 5,0, e.g. with sulphuric acid, separating insoluble matters, adding alcohol to precipitate alkali sulphates, separating the precipitates and evaporating off the alcohol. The aqueous solution after precipitation may be further treated with alcohol and sulphuric acid, allowed to stand, adjusted to pH = 4.8 with alkali, filtered and freed from alcohol by evaporation.
