Abstract
402,087. Shrinking yarns. WRIGLEY, J. H., Douglas House, Worthington, MELVILLE, A., 42, Chorley Road, Standish, both near Wigan, and HENSHILWOOD, A. B., 89, Upper Rushton Road, Thornbury, Bradford, Yorkshire. Feb. 20, 1932, No. 5077. [Class 120 (iii).] Apparatus for shrinking yarns and fabrics comprises a rubber or part rubber belt c moving in a sinuous path with which the yarn &c. is kept in contact while it contracts and expands. As shown in Fig. 1 the belt c passes round an adjustable tensioning roll b and a roll a which can be lifted hydraulically to deflect the belt against a fixed driven roll f. The roll f could be adjusted instead of the roll a. The yarn &c. t engages the belt c at a point where its surface is expanded and leaves it at a point where the surface is contracted. The rubber belt c may run in contact with an inextensible belt x<2>, Fig. 4, of metal &c. passing over two drums x, x<1>. Specifications 359,759 and 400,950 are referred to.
