Abstract

372,803. Shrinking and stretching yarns. WRIGLEY, J. H., Douglas House, Worthington, MELVILLE, A., 42, Chorley Road, Standish, both near Wigan, and HENSHILWOOD, A. B., 89, Upper Rushton Road, Thornbury, Bradford. Feb. 10, 1931, No. 12265. Divided on 371,976. [Class 120 (iii).] Apparatus for shrinking and stretching fabrics, applicable also to yarns, comprises a rubber or like expansible belt 2 with which the fabric or yarn is kept engaged while it is contracted or expanded. As shown the fabric after having all creases removed by the stretching roller 15 engages with a stretched part of the belt 2 and is contracted when the belt reaches the straight part of its travel. The fabric may be moistened by steam &c. from a pipe 30 and fixed in its shrunk state by a heated and polished press plate 18. Fabric &c. to be stretched is run through the apparatus in the opposite direction. Specifications 371,146, [Group XVI], and 371,976 are referred to.
