487,130. Rubber sheeting machines. CAIRNS, J. Feb. 13, 1937, No. 33633. Divided out of 489,676. [Class 70] In rubber-sheeting machines a single flexible driving element, such as a belt or chain, is provided, in driving engagement with each of the pairs of rollers. The belt or chain 30 may be associated with a tensioning jockey pulley 32 mounted on an adjustable arm 33. The rollers are mounted with the plane of the nips slightly inclined to the vertical, and guide-plates 14, 15, 16 are provided between the pairs of rollers ; small guide rollers 17, 18, 19 are urged against the travelling sheets of coagulum by means of counterweights or springs, and throw the ends of the sheets against the guide-plates, thus preventing doubling. The plane of the nips may be slightly inclined to the horizontal, and trays of a metal over which the coagulum slides easily, such as brass, copper or stainless steel, are then provided between the roller pairs. The first two pairs of rollers may be of polygonal cross-section, the remainder being cylindrical. The last pair may be marker rollers.
