Convention date, Aug. 15, 1932. [Class 42 (i).] Fabric to be shrunk longitudinally is fed in a slack state beneath endless tentering bands 23 which travel over diverging guide surfaces 14, e.g. wheels, to stretch the fabric laterally and thus cause it to contract longitudinally. The bands 23 may have serrated surfaces and the fabric may first contact with the bands at points where the band surfaces are stretched.
