[Class 42 (i)] Tentering.-In pin tenters the work is prevented from jumping off the pins by a guard of fabric, bristles, &c. which moves along with the pin chain. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the guard is a band of fabric &c. 17 travelling around pulleys 8, 9 and driven by one or both of the pulleys 8, 9 or by the pins themselves. As shown in Fig. 4, the guard is a brush 23 carried by a jaw 19 pivoted to each link of the tenter-chain ; its closing is limited by the shoulder 18.
