Abstract

401,432. Rope - trimming devices. MUDIE, J. C., 32, Springfield, Dundee. July 13, 1932, No. 19745. [Class 109.] The cutter 15 performs an orbital movement about the rope 9, and is rotated about its own axis by gearing 11, 12 from a tubular stem 8 enclosed within the boss 2 of the rotary frame 1 carrying the cutter. The stem 8 and boss 2 are driven by bevel gearing 3, 4, 10 so as to rotate in opposite directions. A brush 20 is driven by a belt and pulleys 21 from the cutter, spring-urged jockey pulleys being provided for tensioning the belt. The rope may be held against the ledger blade by spring controlled pivoted members.
