Abstract
371,405. Hedge-cutting machines. RORKE, J., County Surveyor's Office, South Monread, Naas, Co. Kildare, Irish Free State. Jan. 17, 1931, No. 1585. Convention date, March 6, 1930. [Class 6 (ii).] A hedge-cutting machine comprises slightly convex co-operating concentric stationary and rotating cutter wheels a, b, the stationary wheel b being fixed to an arm i and having serrated cutting edges, and the rotating wheel a being mounted on a spindle driven, as by a flexible shaft d and bevel gearing e, g<1>, from a hand-wheel g. The rotating cutters are constructed as a flywheel by increasing the mass of the cutters towards their outer ends or by the provision of a rim c connecting the outer ends. The arm i swivels adjustably about a pivot j supported by a leg k. The free end of the arm i may be adapted to act as a counterweight. A second leg k<1> may be provided pivoted to the leg k and adapted to be set in position in a slotted arm n. The legs k, k<1> may be telescopic. The arm i may carry a further arm carrying the cutters and adjustable so that the cutters may operate in different positions.
