Abstract
354,311. Lawn-trimmers. LEONARD, W., Bocking Lane, Greenhill, near Sheffield. May 3, 1930, No. 13700. [Class 6 (ii).] A machine for cutting the edges of lawns comprises a fixed spindle b carrying a ground wheel c and mounted in a frame a, a rotatable spindle d being mounted in a bearing e integral with the frame and carrying at one end a pinion f engaging teeth g on the inner periphery of the ground wheel, and at the other end a rotary cutter h provided with angular L-shaped members s to collect the cut grass and throw it into a grass-box. A stationary blade j is removably attached by screws k, and the cutter h is adjustable thereto by nuts t, t, and a retaining screw t<1> on the spindle d. A cover for the cutter is rigidly secured to the frame, and carries the detachable grass-box by a pin-and-socket connection. A handle is secured to the frame. A small ground wheel or roller may be provided at the rear. Specification 298,007, [Class 6 (ii), Gardening &c. appliances], is referred to.
