[Classes 6 (i) and 6 (ii)] Apparatus for treating lawns and other grassed land and adapted to be used alternatively as a lawn-mower, a pricking and aerating apparatus, or a brushing-machine, is provided with means for detachably mounting a pricking-roller or a rotary brushing-device to operate in lieu of the detachable grass cutter cylinder, whereby a triple-purpose apparatus of similar nature to a lawn mower is produced. The rotary mowing-cutter C, Fig. 1, is mounted on a stationary spindle a, which is removably mounted on a pintle f, Fig. 4, at one end and an adjustable screw g, with locking-device g<1>, at the other end, Fig. 4 showing the spindle a replaced by another removable spindle a<1> on which is mounted a rotary brush B adapted to be driven in place of the cutter by the usual gearing of the lawn mower. The usual delivery plate D, Fig. 1, with ledger blade D<2> is secured to a removable spindle D<1>, Fig. 4, mounted on a pintle f and an adjustable screw g, the latter being mounted in an eccentric bush to provide for slight adjustments of the ledger blade. When the rotary cutter is replaced by the brush B, a light delivery plate P is mounted on the spindle D<1> instead of the mower delivery plate D, and may be adjusted by the same screws p<1> which serve to adjust the delivery plate D. In order to effect aeration by pricking, the cutter or brush is removed, and a pricking-cylinder furnished with spikes is mounted on another removable spindle, and is rotated by forward movement of the machine. The cutter, brush, and pricker are adjusted relatively to the ground by the usual forward roller, the spindle 1 of which is carried by slotted brackets 2 adjusted by rack and pinion gear 3, 4.
