Abstract

498,054. Lawn-trimmers. GOLDUP, C. E. July 21, 1937, No. 20159. [Class 6 (ii)] A device for cutting the edges of lawns consists of a star-shaped cutter 7 and a fixed blade 8 mounted on a bracket 1 which is pivoted on a rotary spindle 2 of a lawn-mower. The cutter is driven by gearing or a chain 9 engaging a sprocket 10 on the spindle 2. The inclination of the bracket and the height of the cutter can be varied by swinging the bracket about the spindle 2 by means of a rod 11 which can be fixed in various positions by a rack and pawl. A clutch may be interposed between the spindle 2 and sprocket 10.
