662,454. Beet-topping machines. SILK, O.A. Jan. 30, 1950. [Feb. 7, 1949] No. 3294/49. Addition to 615,095. Class 6 (iii). In beet-topping machines comprising a pair of mutually inclined rotary cutter discs d, a guide disc i rides over the roottops. The guide disc is driven from the shaft o of the groundwheels b through sprocket and bevel gearing, and a flexible shaft t and both the guide and cutting discs are supported from the pivoted frame c. Guidance over the roottops is afforded by an attendant on the seat m swinging a lever k. From the cutter discs the severed tops pass by a conveyer disc u to a conveyer v and a collecting device. The lever k may be omitted if the disc i is formed with laterally-projecting triangular vanes.
