Abstract

400,963. Distribution boards. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, and HARDING, P. H., 23, Beaufort Gardens, Hendon Central, both in London. May 3, 1932, No. 12752. [Class 38 (v).] In a distribution pillar unit, the busbars 2 are mounted at the back of the cable sealing box 3, and removable insulated connections for each busbar are passed through the box from the front to the back. In one arrangement, Figs. 1 and 2, the removable connections are in the form of copper bolts 10 which can be screwed into the busbars 2, the head of each bolt making contact with one terminal 11 of a fuse or link 9, the other terminal 8 of which is connected to one of the cable tails 6. The bolt 10 is insulated from the sealing box 3 by an insulating tube 12 which may be enclosed in an outer bushing 13. In a modification, the removable conductor is attached directly to the fuse carrier, and carries a plug-in contact adapted to engage a co-operating contact on the busbar. In another form, Fig. 3, the fuses themselves form the removable connection. In this construction, fuses 14 are mounted in an insulating tube 15 provided with a handle 19 and are connected at one end to a plug-in contact 16 adapted to engage a hole in the busbar, and at the other end to a conducting ferrule 18 adapted to engage a garter spring contact 20 enclosed in a housing 21 which forms a terminal for a cable tail.
