[Class 38 (v).] In a distribution pillar or the like employing a unit of the type comprising one or more fuses and or connecting links clamped one above the other on an upright, a clamp member having a backward extension is used for the purpose of forming an electrical connection to a horizontal busbar located behind the upright. With this arrangement, all wiring &c. can be effected from in front. The single insulating rod or tube 1 is fastened to a box 14, which may be the cable sealing box, and carries two pairs of fuse clips 4 and a link 12 for the neutral shown in detail in Fig. 4. The link is fastened to clamps 10, 11 which are adapted to embrace the upright 1 and to carry, respectively, a side terminal 7b for a cable and a rear extension 11b for connection with the busbar 13. The clips 4 are secured to the flat faces of further clamps, two of which carry side terminals for the cables, similarly to 10, and two carry extensions 3a for connection to the busbars in the rear, similarly to 11, To adapt one of the units shown in Fig. 1, to existing pillars in which the busbars are in front, an extra fitment may be fastened between the fuse clip and clamp, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown). The parts of the cables between the box 14 and sockets may be shrouded in insulating tubes, and shrouds 15 may cover the live parts in front of the pillar. The clamps may be cut off to the desired width from extruded bar of the necessary cross section.
