Abstract
509,768. Junction boxes. CALLENDER'S CABLE & CONSTRUCTION CO., Ltd., and GARNETT, C. V. H. Jan. 18, 1938, No. 1676. [Class 38 (i)] In a disconnecting box, distribution pillar or the like, cable cores are connected by means of cable contacts 9 to fuses or links 13, and contacts 17 engaging the fuses or links are each disposed between members 15 and 16 of two sets of busbars so that the connections between the cores can be varied by the insertion of plugs at suitable places between the contacts 17 and busbars 15 and/or 16. Each cable contact consists of an upwardly extending portion 9 and a horizontally extending portion 6 fitting in a groove in a transverse insulating bar 7. Boxes 19, of moulded insulating material, are carried by longitudinal insulating bars 11. Busbars 15 and 16 are arranged in two sets between the boxes 19 associated with cables A, C, Fig. 1, and those associated with cables B, D as shown in Figs. 2, 3. Each end of each busbar extends along the whole of one side of a box 19, Fig. 6. A contact 17 extends into each end of the box so that two separate contacts 17 are disposed between a pair of busbars 15, 16 in each box. Plugs 18 are inserted between the contacts 17 and the busbars 15, 16 to interconnect the cables. Fig 10. shows diagramatically two busbars associated with four cable cores. Plugs can be inserted at positions corresponding to 34 ... 41.
