Abstract

417,077. Couplings. HENLEY'S TELEGRAPH WORKS, CO., Ltd., W. T., 11, Holborn Viaduct, London, and WHEELER, H. S., 170, Upper Wrotham Road, Gravesend, Kent. July 8, 1933, No. 19401. [Class 38 (i).] The cable 4 is connected to the conductor wires 19 of electrical apparatus, particularly of a portable nature such as a soldering iron, by way of an insulating coupling formed in two parts drawn and held together by a single screw and nut device that serves also as an earthing terminal. The coupling is formed with apertures at each end to receive the cable 4 and the end of the apparatus 9 respectively, the coupling being formed with an annular rib 8 which engages a corresponding groove on the apparatus 9 to prevent separation thereof. Each half of the coupling comprises a bridge portion 14 formed with sockets 16 for the reception of the bolt heads and nuts of the connecting terminals, and a nut is positioned between the two bridges to register with apertures 20 therein through which screws engaging in the nut are passed to secure the two halves together and to constitute the earthing terminal.
